Moulds Asylum

Deep in the underbelly of the ruined city, where the skeletal remains of skyscrapers stretch toward the oppressive, bruise-colored sky, stands Moulds Asylum—an ominous, decaying monolith of horror and despair. Its once pristine white walls are now stained with the black grime of neglect, the paint peeling and warped by years of acid rain and exposure to the toxic atmosphere. Towering spires, once symbols of hope or sanctuary, now resemble broken claws reaching skyward, jagged and twisted from storms and neglect. The origins of Moulds Asylum are shrouded in darkness and blood. Rumor has it that it was originally constructed during the early days of society’s collapse, designed as a hospital in order to treat patients who were mildly affected from the radiation or perhaps critically ill from other diseases. But as chaos spread and the city’s fabric tore apart, the hospital went through some drastic changes and became a refuge for the worst of the worst—those driven mad by the horrors of the holocaust, by the chemical and radiation poisoning, or by the twisted experiments conducted in secret by doctors desperate to find a cure for the madness that now gripped the city.

In its final days, Moulds became less of a sanctuary and more a prison of horrors. In the chaos of the nuclear holocaust, the institution’s walls were breached, and its inmates—psychotic, mutated, and unhinged—flooded into the streets, spreading terror and chaos. Those who survived the initial blasts found find refuge within its crumbling walls, but the asylum’s dark history only deepened. Rumors speak of inhumane experiments, of patients subjected to grotesque surgeries and chemical mind-washes, all in the name of "treatment"—but what was done in the name of medicine was often a descent into pure chaos. After the fall of society, Moulds was abandoned. Over the years, it became a nexus for the city’s most depraved and tormented. It’s said that the spirits of those who suffered—patients, doctors, guards—still wander its halls, their screams echoing through the broken corridors. Some have claimed that the asylum was cursed long before the bombs fell, that it was built upon an ancient site of ritual sacrifice and dark energy. When the nuclear fire finally ignited the city, it merely awakened what had always been buried beneath its crumbling foundation. Moulds Asylum is a place where the line between hallucination and reality dissolves, where shadows whisper secrets too terrible to hear and where the spirits of the mad still claw their way through the broken fabric of time.

The asylum's heavy iron gates hang loosely on their hinges, creaking softly with every gust of the poisoned wind, revealing a darkened maw filled with shadows. Taking a peek inside, you’ll see a tremendous labyrinth of hallways and corridors that are filled with the scent of death and decay. Broken wheelchairs, rusted bed frames, and shattered glass litter the floors, silent witnesses to a past filled with suffering and madness. Shadowy figures are said to wander the endless halls, slipping between the crumbling walls, their eyes glowing faintly like dying embers. The windows, cracked and clouded with grime, cast faint, flickering shadows that dance when the wind howls just right, creating illusions of movement and faces pressed against the glass. The most haunting rumor that has circulated is it that most, if not all, of the souls that die in this town end up trapped in the asylum forever.

The building itself seems alive, pulsating with a dark energy that pulses beneath its rotting veneer. It is said that the very foundation is built upon the remnants of those who were broken here—patients subjected to cruel experiments, doctors driven mad by their own obsession, and the echoes of screams that refuse to fade. To the people of Purgatory, Moulds is more than just an abandoned asylum—it’s a living nightmare, a frightening monument to mankind’s darkest sins and a gateway to the chaos that still lurks in the city’s depths. And those who seek its secrets—whether out of curiosity, desperation, or madness—do so at their own peril.
